Reflections

When I began thinking about getting my masters, I knew that I wanted to work through a program that was technology-based.  I have always enjoyed working with computers and have been intrigued by what is made possible through them.  I began looking at the Masters programs offered by DSU because I was a previous DSU graduate and I knew that if I wanted technology to be the core, DSU would offer the best technologically-advanced education possible.  Once I was accepted into the program in the Summer of '08, I knew that I would be learning many new and exciting things.  I was a bit anxious, though, because I knew most of my courses would be at a distance which isn't something I had done previously.  With a good work ethic and focus on time management, I was able to successfully accomplish my goals.  Not only was I the first to graduate with a college degree in my family, I am now also the first to graduate with a masters degree.

I feel that I have learned so many things that I will be able to use in my classroom and for my district through the work that I have done in this program.  I have already used so many skills from the program in my district.  I am always the go-to-gal when something fails or the server goes down.

Looking back now on the academic paths and professional growth I've experienced through the MSET program, I feel I have benefited not only myself but my students as well.  I will take what I have learned to better educate my students and allow them a larger skills set with technology.  My only regret is not having done it sooner!
