Course Reflection:

This course was very intense.  We took instructional design and broke it up in to several parts focusing on a topic within each phase using the Smith and Ragan model.  Basically, we were working on creating a unit that could be used in professionalism that was research based.

This course provides concepts and tools for applying systems theory to instructional design, including needs, instructional, learner, and context analysis, objectives, assessment, strategy, development, and evaluation.  This course will focus primarily on applying the instructional design process in the K-12 learning environment.

Collaboration played a major role in this course because we worked closely with our peers while creating our instructional design projects.

Goals/Objectives:

  • Describe instructional design as a systematic process.

  • Describe the Smith and Ragan model for instructional design.

  • Conduct instructional design activities for the ID process.

  • Apply the concepts and tools associated with systematic instructional design to develop and instructional project.

  • Develop competencies of an instructional designer.
