As stated in my philosophy, I believe
very strongly in creating a meaningful learning experience.
The Constructive Learning Theory explains the importance of varying
your teaching style to maximize a student's learning potential.
This theory states that learning is an active process of creating
meaning from different experiences. Utilizing technology in a
classroom can maximize potential. Many of the classes in the
MSET program focus on theory and the importance of relating
coursework to research-based activities. In order to create a
technologically advanced learning environment, I believe it is
important for educators to keep up-to-date with new teaching
theories, media and technologies.
The following is a list of MSET program Goals
and Objectives that relate to the Constructive
Teaching/Learning and Technology theme.
Courses that meet this theme are then listed under each Goal
and its matching Objective.
Goal 1:
Students will be leaders in educational technology.
Students will manage instructional technology systems
Students will demonstrate proficiency in teaching and
assessing others in the use of computers and related
technologies in a variety of educational settings.
Goal 2:
Students will be current in teaching and learning processes and
practices.
Students will be aware of current trends and issues in
computer education, distance education, electronic
communications, and computer hardware/software.
Students will integrate computer software, authoring tools,
programming languages, the Internet, and multimedia into
curriculum design and instruction.
Students will use systematic problem solving and
research-based human/computer interaction practices in the
development of computer-assisted instructional programs.
